Why use fake permissions?
Fake permissions prevent a rogue moderator from using native Discord features directly. A staff member grantedban_members via fake permissions can use slug’s ;ban command, but cannot use Discord’s native ban feature. This means all moderation goes through slug — logged, auditable, and controllable.
How do fake permissions work?
When a role has a fake permission likeban_members, members with that role can use slug commands that require that permission. They still have no native Discord permissions — slug enforces the check internally on every command invocation.
Getting command permissions
Every slug command lists its required permission in the help output. Run;help (command) to see the Information field.
Ban Members. The fake permission equivalent is the snake_case version: ban_members.
